In this video, Eric A. Adams explains how the body’s endocannabinoid system has natural cannabinoid receptors throughout the body that interact with cannabinoids and are important for many physiological functions.
Cannabinoids are known to be highly lipophilic, meaning they can dissolve in or absorb lipids or fats, and can cross the blood/brain barrier, making them potential pharmaceutical agents for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease.
InMed is advancing its neurodegenerative disease program following research demonstrating neuroprotective effects and enhanced neuronal function of specific cannabinoids. Two novel cannabinoid analogs, developed by our subsidiary BayMedica, are being advanced to in vivo studies.
